Belarus harvests 7m tonnes of grain

Belarus' harvest has reached 7 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

“Early on 23 August the Belarusian agricultural workers reached the harvest of 7 million tonnes of grain,” the ministry said.

According to the data of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the harvesting of grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) has been completed in Brest Oblast. Harvesting was done on 74.5% (264,700 hectares) in Vitebsk Oblast, 89.7% (305,500 hectares) in Gomel Oblast, 86.8% (264,900 hectares) in Grodno Oblast, 89.3% (400,700 hectares) in Minsk Oblast, and 83.3% (276,100 hectares) in Mogilev Oblast. Harvesting in Belarus is expected to be over before 25 August.

Grain yields this year are recorded higher than the average one at this stage last year. Maize, buckwheat and millet are harvested later, and they will also contribute to the country's overall harvest.

Grain procurement for state needs stands at 811,400 tonnes in 2022.
