Ostrovets region is the fourth largest region of the Grodno oblast situated at the very north of it.

If you happen to visit this incredible land, you will be forever drawn to it. You will be amazed by the serene beauty of crystal clear rivers and lakes amidst majestic pines and spruce, by sweet-smelling meadows and fields. The river Vilia and its inflows carry their waters along the steep banks of Oshmyani hills and Naroch-Vilia lowlands. At the north of the region one can find the Kaiminsk group of lakes that are called Sorochansk necklace, at the Kotlovka village a glacier once created the so-called Ostrovets Switzerland. Belarus, EU plan to sign joint declaration on mobility partnership

Belarus and the European Union have plans to sign a joint declaration to establish a mobility partnership, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Interior Ministry.

Belarusian Interior Minister Igor Shunevich will pay a visit to Luxembourg next week to sign a joint declaration to establish a mobility partnership between the Republic of Belarus, the European Union and the EU member states participating in the partnership. >>>

Belarus to promote green technologies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Belarus plans to more actively use green technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Iya Malkina said during the online conference hosted by BelTA on 27 September.

The first deputy minister reminded that Belarus has joined the Paris Agreement which was passed at the 21st session Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris on 12 December and signed on 22 April 2016. >>>

Belarus mulls over social research on family relations and birth rate in 2017

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) A sociological study entitled as Family building, stability in family relations and birth rate amid the changing social and economic living standards of Belarusians will kick off in Belarus in January 2017, Marianna Sokolova, head of the project to support the implementation of the national demographic security program of the Republic of Belarus, told BelTA.

Plans have been made to implement a pilot project of the United Nations Organization to develop social entrepreneurship in several areas in Grodno Oblast.
